The Kirchheimer Advent

The spa and wellness destination Bad Kleinkirchheim sets a calm counterpoint to the pre-Christmas rush under the motto “Warm around the heart.” Between the snow-covered Nockberge mountains, the St. Kathrein and Thermal Römerbad spas, and the atmospheric village centre, a harmonious interplay of crisp winter air, sparkling lights, and cosy comfort emerges. The heart of it all is the alpine-style hut village on the newly designed village square: Over four Advent weekends and 13 market days, more than 30 exhibitors present regional crafts, culinary delights, and gift ideas. In cooperation with Genussland Kärnten, show chef Marco Krainer performs live on selected Saturdays – a culinary highlight showcasing regional products. Gentle live music – from jazz/pop/swing to classical and traditional brass bands – accompanies the market atmosphere; the highlight is a charity concert with the VolksKrocha on Saturday, 20 December. Families will find a lovingly designed children’s area in the spa park, complete with atmospheric lighting, a snow hill, an elf hut, and craft stations. This is how the Kirchheimer Advent becomes a celebration of quiet tones: authentic, decelerated, and close to the heart.

Along the “Millstätter Lichtweg” in Millstatt am See, visitors experience a magical world of light and sound during Advent. Amidst a wintry setting, artistic light installations and atmospheric projections transform the surroundings into an enchanting environment. The story told along the trail can be experienced anytime via an audio guide – simply scan the QR code and immerse yourself in a fairytale world. A highlight is the talking fairy tree in the courtyard of Millstatt Abbey, captivating visitors with its enchanting tales. The evening becomes especially romantic during a winter boat trip on Lake Millstatt. Guests can write a personal wish on the sail of a small “wish boat,” which is then released onto the lake with a lit candle. The “Millstätter Lichtweg” is not only a feast for the eyes but also an invitation to experience Advent in its most magical form. The experience is complemented by the soothing spa moments at the Badehaus Millstätter See, perfect for relaxing after a day full of impressions.

With the ski areas Bad Kleinkirchheim, Turracher Höhe, Sportberg Goldeck, Hochrindl and Falkert, the wait for the Christkind becomes an adventure. For those who prefer activities off the slopes, winter and snowshoe hikes, tobogganing and many other experiences offer memorable moments.
